Last night NCPS was competing in the Sheffield Digital Interclub competition, and our results were Tweeted live from the venue. There were 27 clubs competing with 5 images each, so 135 images overall, and the Judge was Peter Cheetham.During the first round we lost Joyce’s Enough Is Enough Dear, and then Noel’s Breaking Through went too. Things were looking bleak as 5 clubs still had all their images in the competition. Our remaining 3 images made it through round 2, and 45 images remained.  In round 3, Paul’s Mating Toads Go Walkabout was eliminated, leaving two of ours to go through the round 4. Both of our images make it through to round 5, and they also make it to round 6, when 6 images were left.  One image was chosen as the overall winning picture: Yvonne’s Mute Swans in Courtship!  Well done Yvonne, winning best images at Sheffield for the second year running!

Our scores by image were:

  • Enough is Enough Dear by Joyce Streets 1
  • Breaking Through by Noel Patterson 1
  • Mating Toads Go Walkabout by Paul Matthews 3
  • Cheetah and Cub by Rob Hockney 6
  • Mute Swans in Courtship by Yvonne StCyr 7

With these scores we were joint first with Stocksbridge, which meant we went into the tiebreak.  Paul’s Male Orangetip on Ladysmock was our tiebreaker image, and it won!

We were the overall winners of the Sheffield competition by the skin of our teeth – well done everybody!
