Established over 60 years
The Society has always been at the forefront of amateur photography. We have embraced the digital age with an enthusiasm which, combined with members photographic experience, has enabled us to take full advantage of the new technological advances of today’s cameras and computer software.
Visiting and Joining
If you are interested, then come along to a Tuesday evening meeting; there is no obligation to join straight away, make yourself known as a new potential member and entry is just £1 for your first night if you leave us an email address. We count the friendship gained by a common interest as a great opportunity and welcome potential new members and look forward to seeing your images. Entry is £2 for members and £5 for guests after their first visit.
We meet on Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm for an 8pm start
From September to May in Poynton Civic Hall Our programme consists of top class presentations, competitions, workshops, and informal member’s evenings.
The enjoyment of taking photographs
As a hobby whether recording events, nature, landscapes or family snapshots we strive to obtain the best possible results. We encourage competition participation as a good way to learn, but everyone becomes involved at their own pace, and with a compact or DSLR camera, everyone can achieve good results.
This is the main event in the Society’s calendar and is held every year, now during March. It is a showcase of our members’ work with 150 prints and projected images on display. The exhibition is held over 3 days. Over 30 clubs compete for coveted trophies in 2 interclub competitions known as the “North Cheshire Challenges”, details of which can be found on their dedicated website and blog.
We have about 8 internal competitions each season, with an external judge, with members competing to become Clubworker of the year. In addition, there are a number of Interclub competitions and other external ones which are either entered as a club or individually.
