The NYMR is one of the most iconic full size steam railways in Britain and runs several steam trains a day through the North York Moors National Park from Pickering to Grossmont and on to Whitby. It includes an historically important station and engine works at Grossmont and at Goathland the station that became Hogworts in the Harry Potter films. It is well worth a day out on any day of the year. To cap that their annual spring Steam Gala is taking place this weekend from Friday 25th until Sunday 27th April and next from Friday 2nd until Monday 5th May when their usual roster of steam engines large and small will be supplemented by visiting engines including the A4 Pacific Class Bittern (one of the sister engines to Mallard and their own Sir Nigel Gresley).
