Successes Mrs-R

Regular readers of the NCPS Blog will have been aware of the official opening on Saturday last, of the L&CPU Annual Exhibition at Stockport Art Gallery. A sizeable number of members from clubs around the region were present at 2.00pm to hear President John Smith’s welcome and to view the very impressive display of prints arranged around four walls of a gallery which proved to be ideal for the purpose.

Many of those present were there to collect their awards earned at the L&CPU’s Annual Individuals Competition. The presentations followed the president’s opening remarks, praising the high standard of work submitted. He also thanked all involved for their considerable efforts in arranging and staging the exhibition.

NCPS members were highly prominent during the distribution of medals and certificates, particularly Jackie Robinson of course. The regular trips to collect her various ribbons and certificates from John Smith at the front of the hall drew ever louder applause. Our Aamir Sabzwari was also on hand to collect his two certificates and, in their absence, we picked up certificates for Yvonne St Cyr and Paul Matthews. Our hearty congratulations go to them all, particularly in view of the high overall standard of the competition set by the famous names from Wigan 10, Chorley et al.

In addition to the presentation of these individual awards, the L&CPU had also decided to distribute the 2014 Annual Club Competition awards. These were similarly presented by president John  Smith to representatives of the successful clubs, who were present in the room. Our successes in this competition held earlier in the year have already been recorded elsewhere of course. Suffice to say here that it felt like an embarrassment of riches as we picked up no less than 8 certificates for our finishing in the top three in the various print and DPI sections as well as a silver plate – the Centenary Trophy.

A great pity that so few of us were able to get to Stockport Art Gallery on Saturday afternoon to be part of this event . It was another proud occasion for NCPS. However, there is still time to view this well-staged and inspiring exhibition of course. Full details of dates and opening times are on the L&CPU website.
