Having been forced to return to our old venue of the Council Chamber for our second Print worker competition the place was packed to the rafters to hear judge Christine Widdall’s assessment of our images. The evening kicked off as usual with the Intermediate group when Christine’s critical eye missed little, but her tongue was kind in offering advice. The overall standard in this group was remarkably high and none of the 18 or so images would have been out of place in the Advanced class. Images by John Jurics and new member Trevor Shannon were awarded 20 points before pride of place went to Trevor whose pattern image of wind pipes was afforded first place. So onto the Advanced class where, having initially commented on all the images without committing to scores, Christine held back a dozen images from the scoring round before awarding 20’s to Graham Johnston and Jackie Robinson (twice). Jackie’s image “Booklands” claimed the title of overall winner. Congratulations to Trevor, Jackie and those others who had high scoring images. In concluding proceedings president Rob Hockney thanked Christine for providing rigorous assessment in a light and entertaining manner, the tea makers for doing precisely that and, somewhat belatedly, Trevor Rogers for all his hard work in putting together the competition (sorry Trevor).
Would everyone with images scoring 18 or more please send jpg’s to the webmaster Danny Hurley so that they can be displayed in the loop which greets all visitors our web site.
