I attended the L&CPU AGM yesterday to see NCPS’ Jon Allanson elected (again) to the Executive. Much of the meeting was standard AGM-fodder. Most of the attendees’ angst was directed against the new Nature definition and the accreditation scheme for judges. Some tit bits in which members and especially committee may be interested follow:

1. L&CPU are understandably moving further and further towards portal-based communication with Clubs, and  Club officers and will no doubt one day discontinue all paper based communication (Thank the Lord). It is important that our portal entry is always up to date and populated with the names of the names of our various Club Officers – an increasingly important role for the Club Secretary.

2. Edgehill University have cancelled all bookings by external parties  (reason not stated ) leaving the L&CPU in deepest do re venue for The Big Day, Annual Club comp and more. As a result the Big Day will likely be in October and the Annual Club Comp, which remain on 9th and 10th May will be held at Lowton High School. This year, for the first time, they will require PDI versions of Print entries to allow simultaneous projection (GJ please note)

3. Folios are increasingly getting lost in transit. All Federation Clubs on the Folio list were reminded that they must take receipt of the folio disc and mail it to the next club within the allotted time frame. Clubs no longer wishing to be on the list may simply request their name be removed. (Can someone please tell me where we stand on this).

4. Like NCPS the L&CPU is running at a small annual loss and the budget forecasts show this continuing unless action is taken. As a result the 2016 subscription rate (the amount Clubs pay for affiliation) will increase to £3.25 per member.
