Having firmly pinned the blame on Alan Saunders for getting him involved in bird photography in the first place, past-president Graham Johnston gave an interesting, informative and amusing presentation of his five year quest to photograph the elusive Blue-spotted Chaffinch to a full house at Hazel Grove yesterday evening. Much of this quest seems to have been in the company of various talented photographers and has taken Graham to Ireland (twice), Bempton Cliffs (many times), Oulton Park (a diversion to catch the rare Crashing Motorbike) and finally to Iceland where not a one was spotted between waterfalls and ice sculptures. Never-the-less Graham has captured, and shared with us, some cracking images along the way; not least Lost control and Gull invading Guillemots both of which scored 20 in recent Club worker competitions.  Graham is off to Antarctica in a few weeks where he will continue in his quest and will no doubt return with gazzilions of photos of penguins to compensate for yet another failure in recording the elusive Blue-spotted.
